Security helped by system, November 25, 2011 This review is from: Logitech Alert 700e Outdoor Add-On Security Camera with Night Vision (Electronics)
The security cameras are working fine. I especially like the flexibility of the adjustments, particularly the motion detection feature. I set the cameras so that every little breeze blowing bushes would not trigger the camera, as well as the street traffic just outside the outer fence next to the street.
5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the box, simple, works well, very nice features, October 30, 2011
This review is from: Logitech Alert 700e Outdoor Add-On Security Camera with Night Vision (Electronics)
For an IP camera it works very well, image quality is ok, very nice features (Infra Red night vision, Sound recording, email alerts) especially the remote viewing from my mobile phone.
I am using 3 of them with a PoE switch which means you only need one cable to power and transfer data from the camera. Faced no issues with installation or running so far.
There is also a good user forum provided by Logitech, which answered a lot of my technical questions before I decided to buy.
The commander software is good, it allows easy reviewing of recorded video and management of the cameras.
An improvement that could be added is faster FPS (Currently it is 15 frames per second – at least 30 fps would offer better viewing or motion). Hopefully this could be something that could be changed in the camera firmware, as when you install the camera the commander software checks the firmware and updates it if required.
3.0 out of 5 stars Good plug ‘n play security camera system, October 15, 2011
This review is from: Logitech Alert 700e Outdoor Add-On Security Camera with Night Vision (Electronics)
This is a good consumer grade security camera system that anybody can install and get above average video/images with great iphone/ipad and software integration.
The video quality isn’t quite real HD, and you don’t have a real optical zoom to help make out any details. However it is a much higher resolution that competing cameras in this price range and not having any moving parts or motors means one less thing to break over time, especially in bad weather.
The only major complaint I have with these units is the poor motion detection, and that the video quality still needs to higher to better make out individuals.
Also while you can play for the online “Alert” internet service, your cameras do NOT automatically upload to the internet, when you check videos, only then does your camera or remote PC and web browser request the video which is then loaded from your cameras memory card and transmitted to your device.
Still, unless something better comes along or you’re lucky enough to have several thousand dollars to spend on commercial grade HD security cameras this is likely your best bet today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome product with great picture quality, October 4, 2011
This review is from: Logitech Alert 700i Indoor Add-On HD-Quality Security Camera (Electronics)
I purchased the Logitech Alert 700 indoor master and 1 additional camera for purposes of watching my nanny with my newborn baby. The price seemed a little high but apparently its price is average with comparison of other products out there. I loved it… I was able to install within an hour and the picture quality is very clear and great!
As far as the reliablity i go online to logitech alert and watch my home from my work computer. If the logitech website is doing maintenance then you will not be able view from the web. I have only had a few issues with that so i only gave it 4stars on reliabilty.
All in all i am very happy on the purchase and i feel very comfortable with the Nanny too!
When i can afford it i plan on purchasing more addtional cameras…
Thank you Logitech!

i now have four of these installed at our home , a no brainer – must have . I am not a paranoid person & we do live in a safe protected neighborhood – but I am a gadget freak, partly my reason for owning .
To be able to see how things are at home , regardless of where I am via my iPhone is truly amazing.
buy this product . . now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, but not perfect., August 29, 2011
This review is from: Logitech Alert 700e Outdoor Add-On Security Camera with Night Vision (Electronics)
I have two of these cameras (and one indoor camera) set up in my house. I’ve also had a third outdoor camera that had to be returned for being defective. When these cameras work, they are great, however the internal SD card writer seems to fail very often. Out of three outdoor cameras, two have failed SD cards. I returned the one (which also had overheating and video failure issues), but the other is already mounted high on my home. The camera will not put footage on your computer using the stock software with a failed SD card. I have tried replacing the SD card and the same issues crop up, leading me to believe its the units themselves. My solution is to use Blue Iris video recording software. This takes the live stream and records it on my server’s hard drive.
The video quality from these cameras is very good. The motion sensitivity is not. It may pick up any movement trees and squirrels make in my yard, but it missed the UPS delivery of an Amazon package. One recording the package is not there, the next a squirrel is looking at my package.
I’d recommend these cameras for use if you have the ability to use a server and alternate software. They would do a great job if you record all the time on them, but I would not trust the motion detection on these, or any other camera. When these cameras work, they are good, but in my small sample size I’ve had problems.
3.0 out of 5 stars SO SO, August 25, 2011
This review is from: Logitech Alert 700i Indoor Add-On HD-Quality Security Camera (Electronics)
Pros: Great Camera Construction, Quality, Mounting Options.
Cons: Software. iPhone/iPad app is slow. Logitech backend stuff went down for 2 days and I couldn’t connect to remote cameras. Not impressed with the backend software. $80 for premium subscription is a joke.
Tempted to get regular POE cameras and bypass the whole logitech server/backend joke.

Works like they say it would. no complaints very easy to install. Only problem that I feel is that logeitech charges a fee for online viewing. The first year in my opinion should be free and then alittle lower for a yearly subscription from its current price.
