*What you need
To use Roku, you need a high speed Internet connection with a speed of at least 1.2 Mbps (such as mid-level DSL). For HD video, we recommend 5 Mbps (if you’re not sure what your speed is, go to www.speedtest.net and run the simple test). Note that not all content partners enable HD or 1080p streaming video. You may also need a wireless or wired router if you cannot connect Roku directly to your cable or DSL modem.

It is o.k. and performs well. However, I did not see the specs on this model before ordering and did not get the one I thought I ordered. There were two or three listed at the same price.
Your order form did not show the difference in the various models( to the best of my knowledge) Help other customers find the most helpful reviews
2.0 out of 5 stars Stopped streaming Netflix!, October 24, 2011

I wanted the XDS specifically for the replay button and the built in wi-fi. It updated its firmware automatically when I began using it, connected to my network with a signal strength of “excellent”, and streamed Crackle and Hulu Plus just fine. It streamed Netflix fine, too, for the first few days… then it just stopped. I kept getting a message saying the title wasn’t currently available for download, please try again later – which didn’t make sense because the same titles streamed to my computers perfectly. Sometimes it told me that I had exceeded my Netflix search quota – which didn’t make sense because I had an unlimited membership. Of course I verified that it had the latest firmware, pushed the reset button, tried different router settings, etc. but nothing worked. I learned that if I selected a Netflix title and attempted to play it 30 or 40 times, the movie would sometimes play… but other times the Roku would simply disconnect itself from my wireless network (which never happened while using any other service) and take me back to the login/password screen. I finally called Netflix support – they blamed the Roku. Called Roku support – they blamed my ISP. Called my ISP support – they blamed the router. I gave up, returned the Roku to Amazon and replaced it with a WD Live, which streams Netflix flawlessly and never drops the wireless connection. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

Continuous problems with Netflix streaming to a point where it will no longer access Netflix at all. I have had a year of problems with Roku customer support with them blaming my router, my dSL provider, George Bush – anyone but taking responsibility themselves. DON’T BUY THIS JUNK. Sony BluRay BDP-S580 at $140 runs circles around Roku for streaming. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews
5.0 out of 5 stars Roku – a great alternative to cable TV, October 18, 2011

A friend of mine owned a Roku and was very pleased with the content she was able to access.
Roku opens up a whole new world of networks and I’m finally able to enjoy Netflix on my big screen TV. It’s easy to set up to use, and I’m a klutz when it comes to setting up anything electronic. I had it up in running in less than 10 minutes.
If you want an alternative to the “packaged drek” that cable providers offer you, then getting a Roku is for you. Remember you are going to need an internet connection, and a router as the Roku operates through a WiFi connection to your computer/router. You will also need your router code to enter into the Setup for the Roku.
Highly recommended! Help other customers find the most helpful reviews
